Austrian manufacturer M-Tec Energy Systems GmbH will launch a modular battery storage system with an integrated hybrid inverter in January 2022.

The storage system is called Energy Butler and consists of a modular battery that can be stacked by combining up to 8 modules to achieve a storage capacity of 11.5 to 30.7 kWh.

The company said that the new product is suitable for single-family residential and multi-family residential and commercial buildings, and can be cascaded up to a capacity of up to 300 kWh.

According to M-Tec, the storage system can be installed quickly and easily, and the integrated hybrid inverter can save assembly time and technical room space. The device also relies on an emergency backup power source independent of the network, which can provide energy even in the event of a power failure.

In addition, the embedded E-Smart energy management system specially developed by M-Tec for its overall energy solution is responsible for monitoring and control, as well as maximizing the self-consumption of solar energy. Manufacturers can choose to provide systems pre-configured with other E-Smart components.

M-Tec guarantees 10,000 charging cycles in 10 years. "Together with our'E-Smart' energy management system, an overall energy solution consisting of photovoltaics, battery storage, heat pumps, controllable electric heating elements and electric vehicle charging stations has been created," M-Tec Managing Director Peter Huemer explained.

A M-Tec spokesperson told Photovoltaic Magazine that, depending on the configuration and size, the cost is slightly lower than similar competitors. The company will use its existing sales channels for electrical and heating installers to sell its storage systems.
